About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior HSEQ Adviser to provide health, safety and environmental leadership, advice and support across the Wellington Electricity Contract.
The successful candidate will work on responsibilities like:
- Provide day-to-day HSEQ leadership, technical advice and guidance across the Wellington Electricity Contract
- Lead, coach and support HSE Advisers, coordinating team priorities, workload and professional development
- Partner with operational leaders to identify, assess and manage HSEQ risks and ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, customer and company requirements
- Lead and support incident investigations, corrective actions, lessons learned and worker rehabilitation processes
- Coordinate and undertake HSEQ audits and field assessments, monitoring actions and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Analyse HSEQ trends and performance to identify opportunities for improvement and support the delivery of HSEQ initiatives
- Build strong relationships with operational teams, Wellington Electricity representatives and other key stakeholders to promote consultation and effective HSEQ outcomes
- Champion a proactive safety culture, encouraging employee participation and high standards of health, safety and environmental performance
Qualifications and Skills
- A recognised Health, Safety and Environmental Management qualification, such as a National Certificate, Diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its practical application in the workplace
- Demonstrated experience in a senior HSEQ advisory or leadership role, ideally within utilities, infrastructure, construction or a related industry
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles, HSEQ management systems and compliance requirements
- Proven experience leading or supporting incident investigations, audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership and coaching capability, with the ability to influence and engage employees and leaders at all levels
- Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, written reporting and documentation skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands in a dynamic operational environment
- Engineering, trades or infrastructure-related qualifications would be advantageous
- Formal audit and/or investigation training would also be advantageous
