Looking for your next big opportunity? We’ve got an exciting Senior Engineer - Distribution Design role just for you! In this position, you’ll will provide technical expertise and leadership in the delivery of high-quality design solutions for distribution network projects. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting project delivery, mentoring engineers, and ensuring designs meet safety, regulatory, and client requirements, making a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of distribution network solutions, ensuring compliance with client, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers and designers, promoting efficient and innovative design outcomes.
• Review and approve design documentation, drawings, and calculations to maintain quality and industry compliance.
• Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and stakeholders to align designs with programme, constructability, and project needs.
• Engage with clients to understand requirements, provide technical advice, and resolve design issues.
• Support bids and proposals through design estimates, technical inputs, and scope definition.
• Identify and manage technical risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement across design processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Mentor junior and graduate engineers, supporting capability development and best‑practice engineering.
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure materials and equipment meet project and industry standards.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Honours preferred).
• 5+ years’ experience in electricity distribution design, including HV networks.
• Strong capability in electrical design delivery, including drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, design processes, and industry standards, with the ability to ensure safety, quality, and compliance.
• Familiarity with Design & Build, Performance Specifications, and Standard Specifications.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development.
• Proven contribution to design estimates, technical inputs, and pricing for proposals.
• Strong knowledge of engineering risk management and mitigation.
• Good understanding of New Zealand regulatory standards for electricity distribution.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and clients.
