• Full-time contract with a minimum of 40 hours guaranteed per week
You will also be required to work occasional planned overtime and be included in the Standby Roster for after-hours and weekend fault response.
About the Role
Looking for your next big opportunity? We’ve got an a Power Systems Technician role just for you! The position provides a specialist technical power systems and electricity protection to the company's Power Services Division.
The successful candidates will work on key responsibilities like:
- Provide expertise on testing, commissioning, repairs across a regional power distribution network
- Work on transmission network sites
- Conduct acceptance and maintenance tests on all parts of a distribution network including substations, underground and overhead cables and equipment, protection and communication systems
- Carry out primary and secondary protection testing
- Lead fault finding analysis of substation, control systems
- Work to international standards
- Install/maintain substation and other high voltage equipment, as per job instructions and specifications
- Meet national regulations and requirements along with Omexom and network owner standards
- Ensure the appropriate plant and equipment to carry out the prescribed task is available and safe to operate and taking personal care of plant and equipment to maintain its safe to operating condition
- Produce quality assurance documentation
- Comply and engage with any reasonable instruction, policy, or procedure by the company to allow the company to comply with their duties and obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Understand and implement the company health and safety policy and taking reasonable care of own health and safety and the health and safety of others
- Set a personal example on all matters of health and safety and participate in Perimeter/BU worker participation practices
Qualifications and Skills
- National Certificate in Electrical Supply (Power Technician) Level 5 or similar with two years or more post qualification experience
- A tertiary qualification at a polytechnic diploma level is required
- EWRB Practicing License required
- Hands-on experience in power systems and electrical protection work to industry standards.
- A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Sound computer skills
- High voltage protection system commissioning experience and confidence to make decisions autonomously
- Possess a valid full and clean NZ driver’s license
