About the Role
Looking for your next big opportunity? We’ve got an exciting Project Manager role just for you! In this position, you’ll get to plan and implement all projects to ensure they are completed on time, to an appropriate quality standard and to achieve planned profit or better, as per project bid targets, making a real impact.
Principal Accountabilities
- Oversee ordering and coordination of major materials and equipment.
- Develop and maintain project programmes using computer‑based planning tools to meet milestones and optimise resources.
- Achieve project financial targets, identify cost/time risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Complete all company and contractual reporting accurately and on schedule.
- Re‑estimate labour monthly and manage variations, ensuring timely submission and client approval.
- Ensure full compliance with contract agreements for both parties.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress claims on due dates.
- Lead and manage labour resources to maintain productivity and positive industrial relations.
- Apply industry codes of practice and ensure safe working methods across all sites.
- Promote and uphold company health and safety policies, ensuring risk assessments, training, competency checks, and incident reporting are completed.
- Foster a strong safety culture through leadership, communication, and example.
- Manage unforeseen labour, supplier, and contract issues as they arise.
- Address technical challenges outside standard procedures and manage complex variations and bonding arrangements.
Required Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering Degree, NZCE or similar
(Electrical or professional registration is not required)
- Proven hands‑on experience in electrical and construction project management.
- Strong estimating and tendering capability, with the ability to take a practical, hands‑on approach when needed.
- Thorough understanding of current regulatory, compliance, and industry standards.
- Solid knowledge of industry contracting procedures and a working understanding of contract law.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients at all levels.
