About the Role 

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role at the heart of New Zealand’s energy infrastructure? As an Industrial Jointer & Switcher, you’ll combine hands-on technical skill with operational leadership to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of high-voltage works for critical industrial clients. 

  • Complete all assigned cable jointing, termination, and testing works safely and to a high quality. 

  • Performing high voltage switching and isolation of plant including Writing, reviewing, and checking switching documents for planned shutdowns and operational switching. 

  • Assist with general industrial electrical installation tasks (e.g., cable tray, conduit, equipment)

  • Using industry knowledge to assist with the organising and planning of HV works. 

  • Identifying and reporting any unscheduled work to enable recording of network equipment that is not safe or functional. 

  • Ensuring allocated equipment are kept well-presented and maintained. 

  • Working to achieve key performance indicators (KPI’s) and Omexom operational and quality processes. 

  • Ensuring the company event reporting procedures are understood and complied with, and assisting with incident investigations where appropriate.  

  • Acquiring and keeping up to date on knowledge of work health and safety matters. 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Recognised qualification in cable jointing for LV and HV cables. E.g. Connexis National Certificate Cable Jointing or New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Level 4 

  • Holding (or working towards) a current EWRB Electrical Registration is advantageous. 

  • Class 1 driver’s licence required. 

  • Certification or evidence of technical jointing skills and WTC to match the joint work to be undertaken. 

  • Sound understanding of technical, regulatory and safety issues related to the electrical supply industry.
