About the Role
Looking for your next big opportunity? We’re looking for an experienced Line Mechanic with a Level 4 qualification to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working on distribution and overhead lines, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. NZ Level 4 Line Mechanic qualification (or equivalent), making a real impact.
The successful candidates will work on key responsibilities like:
- System Preparation & Assessment
- Identify electrical systems and assess supply line conditions
- Develop work plans for overhead line construction and servicing
- Structural & Equipment Work
- Climb and work on network structures
- Install, replace, and remove poles, conductors, and hardware (up to 110 kV)
- Rig structures and operate mounted electrical equipment (up to 33 kV)
- Conductor & Cable Handling
- Join and install overhead conductors (including aerial bundled types)
- Apply and remove earths from overhead conductors
- Install terminations and joints in polymeric insulated cables (up to 1000 V)
- Machinery & Site Operations
- Use line machinery, plant, and equipment in network environments
- Excavate and reinstate underground cable sites
- Lighting & Mounted Equipment
- Install and service street lighting
- Install pad and structure-mounted electrical equipment
Qualifications and Skills
• Hands-on experience in distribution line work to industry standards.
• A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements.
• A trade qualification as electrician or distribution line mechanic is required.
• EWRB – full or limited licence.
• 3-4+ years of hands-on experience in distribution line work to industry standards.
