About the Role
Looking for your next big opportunity? We’ve got an exciting Distribution Line Mechanic role just for you! In this position, you’ll get to provide technical service to the company’s Distribution - Streetlight Division, making a real impact.
• Identifying electrical systems in preparation for Streetlighting works
• Working at height on electricity network systems and structures
• Work in proximity of 11kV overhead network structures
• Working within Auckland Transport’s Road Corridor under temporary traffic management operations.
• Assisting in installation and maintenance of streetlights on standalone and network power pole mounted streetlights.
• Using lines machinery plant and equipment in an electricity network environment
• Determining the condition of electricity supply lines and underground streetlight cables.
• Applying earths to and removing earths from overhead electricity supply line conductors
• Developing work plans for construction and servicing of streetlight network.
• Joining electricity network overhead conductors
• Installing and replacing streetlight pole structures and brackets mounted on overhead electrical network systems.
• Installing and replacing aerial bundled conductors and associated line hardware
• Installing terminations and joints in polymeric insulated power cables up to and including 1000 volts
• Excavating and reinstating underground streetlight cable installation sites
• Identify and repair faults on the streetlight power network and pilot system.
• Troubleshoot streetlight failures connected via Light Point Controllers (LPC) to the Central Management System (CMS)
• Maintain existing streetlights on Auckland Transport and Vector network.
• New installation and upgrade of streetlights to LED’s
• Work with the Auckland Transport’s Road Asset Maintenance Management (RAMM) system
• Provide support and assistance to deploy temporary traffic management for streetlight operational work.
Qualifications and Skills
• EWRB – Full Practising Line Mechanic licence.
• At least 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in distribution line work to industry standards.
• A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements.
• Valid Full NZ Driver’s License
• Available to participate in a standby roster.
• NZ or Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident
• Presently in NZ with a right to live and work in New Zealand
